Bonnie 'Prince' Billy Announces Summer Tour

A spectre is haunting Europe: the spectre of Will "Bonnie 'Prince' Billy" Oldham. Like a disquieting backwoods Gumball Rally, Bonnie, his beard, and an eccentric ensemble of hats will blitz the unsuspecting continent beginning in just over a week; the early July lark will be interrupted solely by a DJ stint at our own Intonation Music Festival in Chicago. The long march revs up again for most of August with a healthy mixture of gigs, festival and otherwise, as you can see from the following list:

According to their website, Oldham's label Drag City will mark the occasion with a new single from Superwolf, Oldham's recent album with Matt Sweeney. They will back "I Gave You" with three non-album cuts and a video for the title tune, all arriving July 27. Drag City also hints cryptically about a live Bonnie record coming this autumn. Finally, the label takes pains to remind the mainstream media that Audioslave was not the first U.S. band to kick it in Cuba, as so many reports asserted-- Bonnie took his act there way back in 2000. Charitably, we'll assume that the wire-service scribes just dropped a word: They probably meant that Audioslave was the first shitty American band to play Cuba.
