Flowerbooking Announces Acts for Benefit Shows

In celebration of its 15th anniversary, Flowerbooking is putting together a vow renewal of sorts. The agency, in charge of organizing tours for Interpol, Jets to Brazil, Jimmy Eat World, Q and Not U, and Tortoise (to name a few), has scheduled a series of shows from November 8-13 at Chicago's Metro. The mini-fest will showcase a variety of acts, including Ted Leo & the Pharmacists, Jimmy Eat World, Local H, and a reunion of the Promise Ring, with more (big name!) artists on the way.

In 2000, Flowerbooking staged a similar show, donating the $18,000 raised to P.L.A.Y. (Possibilities in Life: Art for Youth), an organization aiming to "provide creative outlets for children and teens who have been exposed to abusive and violent environments." This year's goal is a whopping $50,000-plus for P.L.A.Y., who plans on using the funding to develop a branch of the program dedicated to bringing music and art classes to the Chicago foster system.

Susanne Dawursk, owner of Flowerbooking, explained the charitable motive of the company, stating, "It's five years later, and to be able to see P.L.A.Y go from brainchild to reality is exciting, but on the other hand, we also see that there is so much more we can do. Knowing that we can in some way help facilitate this and make a difference is incredible, and makes this the best kind of celebration. Not only will this be a great party, but more importantly a chance to help these kids to see that their voices are important and that their lives truly matter. It's a simple gift that we can all give."

So, Flowerchildren, head on over to the Metro this November and give the gift away.
