For lack of a better way to put it, Brakes are a side project featuring Hamilton on guitars and vocals, Tom and Alex White of the Electric Soft Parade, and Marc Beatty of Tenderfoot. The group began after the White brothers heard Hamilton open for the Lonesome Organist in late 2002, and offered to back his self-described "country-punk" songs. Since, they've opened a number of Brighton shows for the likes of Yeah Yeah Yeahs and the American Analog Set. And in Iceland, Georg and Orri of Sigur Ros offered Eamon Hamilton the distinct pleasure of filling in as his backup band. Their new album will be released on September 13 in the U.S. Tracklist:
