Pitchfork: Constantines Prep New Album

The Constantines have returned for yet another tour, but this time around to support their latest studio venture. The Canadian power quintet have announced on their web site the official release of their third full-length album, Tournament of Hearts, set for an October 11 release. Listeners will be treated to new material after a two-year period since the band's 2003 album, Shine a Light. Earning descriptions of a Fugazi/Springsteen combo since their 2001 self-titled debut on the Canadian label, Three Gut Records, the band signed to Sub Pop in 2003 for U.S. releases. A track from the upcoming release, "Working Fulltime", is also featured on Sub Pop's latest compilation, Songbook of Songs. But beyond being the band's latest venture, Tournament of Hearts will be the last official release from Three Gut Records before they close up shop. A bittersweet 10:

The Constantines will close out their tour in Toronto at the five-year anniversary concert for Three Gut Records with other label favorites, Kinski and Oneida.
