Pitchfork: John Vanderslice to Tour U.S.

John Vanderslice gets around. No, no, not like that you perv! The man writes and records his own material, he records with and for other artists, and he produces other artists. For all we know, he's duping us by recording under other beloved indie names. He also has one of the coolest last names of all time.

After a few solo in-stores later this summer, 'Slice will held on out on tour in the Fall, with the following backing band: Ian Bjornstad (Wurlitzer, Moog Source), Dave Douglas (drums, keyboards), David Broeckner (bass, keyboards), and Dan Brennan (live sound, samples). The in-stores will be just "JV + ES355 + some crazy amp" according to his website.
