Mount Eerie Reveal More About New Album

As a Microphones fan, you've probably had hopes for a new album ever since Mt. Eerie, the final record attributed to the Microphones nomenclature, was released back in 2003. You hoped. And hoped. You forgot about it for three months or so. Other hopes rose and faded. Then you hoped again. Now you can stop the hoping, and start the impatient expectation, as No Flashlight: Songs of the Fulfilled Night, Phil Elvrum's first full-length under the good Mt. Eerie name, has been released in Japan. While it does on one hand prove the existence of said record, it doesn't explain why the Japanese always get bonus tracks (see listing, below) while Americans have to make do with having bands tour through our country every six months.

The album, released on Elvrum's P. W. Elverum & Sun label, won't be released in the U.S. until August 16, but it will be available to those attending the What-the-Heck Fest this weekend (don't forget your Tevas). By the way, as Pitchfork reported last month, the long player will be followed by assorted Casio songs, singalongs and EPs to be released over the next few months after No Flashlight drops.
