Depeche Mode Reveal More About New LP

Hey, guess what? Depeche Mode finally gave us some real news. The band announced on their website that they have finally arrived at a title for their latest record. Playing the Angel, scheduled for release in mid-October, will be the latest album from the synth-pop band since 2001's Exciter. In a press conference held in Germany a few weeks ago, band member Andrew Fletcher commented on the new album: "I think the album is not as digital, perhaps, as Exciter...It's a bit more organic...warmer maybe. Ben Hillier has really brought, I think, a new sound...We think it's a different sound to Depeche Mode. I hope everyone likes it."

The band have also released names of seven tracks from the album, which, judging by some of the titles below, might be a bit...dark:

Precious
Sinner in Me
Suffer Well
John the Revelator
Macrovision
A Pain That I Used to Be
I Want It All

Recorded in Santa Barbara, New York, and London, the album will be supported by a huge tour starting in October in the states. Still no dates or venues for the North American leg though-- just cities that will be covered from October through December. Hey, we're lucky we got news on this album. At the very least, you can just stake out some stadiums and hope for the best. Just kidding. Maybe.
