Interpol Update LP, Tour Itinerary

Rightfully unhappy with the fact that the International Criminal Police Organization remains the top entry on Wikipedia for the word "Interpol," the NYC rock quartet bearing that same name are now taking steps to make sure their importance is no longer understated by the free encyclopedias of the world. The first of these measures comes later this month, when the band will offer a re-release of their second (and second-best) album.

The creatively-titled Antics: The Special Edition hits stores on August 23 and comes packaged with a second disc full of good stuff that those of us who bought the album last fall missed out on. In addition to Quicktime files of the three Antics music videos ("Slow Hands", "Evil", and "C'Mere"), the bonus disc contains five tracks: A B-side from the "Evil" single and four remixed tracks from the album, each one done by a different band member. The tracklist looks like this:

01 Song Seven
02 NARC (Paul Banks remix)
03 Not Even Jail (Daniel Kessler remix)
04 Fog. vs. Mould for the Length of Love (Sam Fog/Bob Mould remix)
05 Public Pervert (Carlos D remix)

For anyone fans feeling ripped off by the thought of having to purchase the album a second time, the band is offering the remixes as a limited-edition EP, though Matador Records has this to offer: "We remind each and everyone of you that you possess free will. You don't have to purchase anything." That said, they can think of plenty of reasons people should pick the 2xCD set up: "We do think this makes a great holiday gift. Like, Columbus Day, for instance." Let's see a worldwide crime-fighting organization top that one! Not likely.

On a sidenote, the band's upcoming U.S. tour hasn't changed much since we reported it last week, aside from an added show in San Diego, but to show that we can get behind the idea of gratuitous duplication, here they are again:
