Pitchfork: Coldplay Begin U.S. Tour Tonight

Starting tonight, you, too will be able to make trade fair, fly at the speed of sound, look at the stars, see how they shine for you, and all that good stuff. Fresh from a month-long trek in Europe, a handful of festivals, and Live8, Coldplay begin their further conquest of North America, or as they're keen on calling it, the "Twisted Logic" tour in lovely Hartford, Conn. The tour's openers will be Rilo Kiley and Black Mountain. Yes, you read that correctly. Black Fucking Mountain. A band our own Sam Ubl described as "evok[ing] glue-sniffing shredders of yesteryear such Blue Cheer and Led Zeppelin" is opening for Coldplay. Watch out, soccer moms.

After making all us Yanks weep into our Budweisers, Mr. Paltrow and co. will head back to Europe for a fall tour. Their website recently posted 17 dates, commencing October 26 in Belgium, with more to be announced soon. This tour has not been been named yet, but we'd like to humbly suggest the Y&Z; tour, or at least nothing that employs encryption.
