Schoolyard Heroes Embark on North American Tour

In a world we thought had been done and done and done again, here's a new genre for you: spook rock. Seattle-based quartet Schoolyard Heroes has created and mastered this genre I just made up, with a dark, driving rhythm, cool surf-rock-esque riffs that would be cute-- if they weren't so evil-- and a great lead singer in spritely 19-year-old Ryann Donnelly (think Sleater-Kinney's Corin Tucker and add an awesome vibrato). Bleeding skulls. Long, brooding faces. Song titles such as "Bury the Tooth of the Hydra and the Skeleton Army Will Rise". ROCK!

The band has amassed an impressive following in Washington State with their energetic stage show and is taking their distinctive act on the road in support of their second LP, Fantastic Wounds, with fellow Seattleites Vendetta Red. Spoooooooooky dates:
