Maxïmo Park Announce U.S. Dates

Franz Ferdinand be damned! Spunky British outfit Maxïmo Park have been hogging the fuck out of the dance-punk playlist on our iPods lately with their infectious debut LP A Certain Trigger. And while the band are currently swimming in a sea of overcrowded soundalikes (so many now that they're actually starting feuds-- how cute!), a recent Album of the Year nomination for the 2005 Mercury Prize might finally convince our younger siblings to stop insisting that Maxïmo "are TOTALLY those guys who sing 'Take Me Out.'"

Regardless of the Mercury Prize outcome, which will be announced September 6, Maxïmo Park will head out on a late-summer U.S. tour opening for nü-wave wanks the Bravery. The nine-city trek kicks off in early September, following a number of European appearances that include stops at the UK's hallowed Reading and Leeds festivals. Another supporting tour, this time opening up for fellow Mercury Prize competitors the Kaiser Chiefs in the UK, will also follow in October-- although all dates are reportedly sold out.
