Pitchfork: The Juan Maclean Schedule Mini-Tour

Adding a little Hispanic flair to your name can make a big difference. This writer can tell you she didn't get laid half as much back when she was Jessica Smith, for example. That trick also did a lot for John Maclean, who, under his whitebread name, was only known as That Guy From Six Finger Satellite. Now, as Juan Maclean (sorry, THE Juan Maclean), he has become the second-best thing on the DFA label, right after James Murphy's sneer. Maclean's debut for DFA, Less Than Human, won't be released here until next week, but Amerikaners can look forward to tour dates later this month and next, provided they live in one of a handful of major cities.

If you're curious about what Maclean's shows are like, this quote from an interview with Stylus Magazine probably will not help: "I think people are pretty surprised by the live show. It's a cross between Throbbing Gristle, Kraftwerk, and maybe Bread or Fleetwood Mac. There is a fair amount of chaos, and we play short sets."
