Jackson & His Computer Band Debut on Warp

Self-described "antique futurist" and former model Jackson Fourgeaud has been bouncing around the electronic music scene for the past couple of years, remixing M83's "Run into Flowers" (which ended up on a Michael Mayer mix), Femi Kuti, and Air; releasing singles here and there; and even putting out two EPs on Sound of Barclay. But when Warp Records announced that they had signed Jackson, who records under the moniker Jackson & His Computer Band, they promised us listeners an album's worth of music. It's time to cash in on that promise, my friends. On September 20, Jackson & His Computer Band will release the debut album Smash, a recording which took four years to complete in Jackson's Paris home.

The LP consists of 14 tracks, and as for the members of the Computer Band, well, they consist this time out of guest vocalists Mike Ladd, Jackson's four-year old niece (on "Oh Boy"-- alas, not a Cam'ron cover), and his mother (on the already well-received single "Utopia", among others), and, of course, his computer. In PR materials, Jackson has said, "The constantly chopped-up audiovisual environment we're exposed to in cities through technology is a source of inspiration for me. It's funny and brutal at the same time. So if I can use this to come out with some emotional shocks, that's cool." Indeed. Plus, Jackson is reportedly plotting his next album already. Now, if Warp can get Aphex Twin on that kind of work schedule, there'll be no stopping them. While you hold your breath for that to happen, here's the tracklist for Smash:
