Pitchfork: 13 & God Ready to Go West

The geographically unlikely combo of California post-hop collective Themselves and German lap-poppers the Notwist, aka 13 & God, have announced a run of North American dates to support their self-titled debut, after completing a sprawling six-week tour across Europe. Still pressing on without Themselves member Dax Pierson, who is recovering from a devastating neck injury suffered in March, 13 & God plan to hit the coasts and a smattering of Midwest and Canadian cities along the way. Throughout the 15-date tour, they will be supported by one-man wonder Boy in Static. The Notwist folks will presumably wing their way back to Germany after the outing ends on Anticon's turf, unless they develop an unhealthy fascination with Jamba Juice. Not that this happened to us once or anything.

On a charitable note, Anticon continues to host benefit shows for Dax Pierson across the country. Following two such events last weekend in San Francisco, Tortoise will take part in the next benefit, to be held at the Empty Bottle in Chicago on Friday, August 12. All proceeds from the show will go toward Dax's recovery.
