Echo and the Bunnymen Schedule North American Tour

As a wave of listeners rock out to the new new wave, awareness has slowly grown regarding one of the leaders of the old new wave: Echo and the Bunnymen, also known in some unfortunate cases as "that band with that song in 'Donnie Darko'". Those listeners will get their shot at redemption on September 20, when the Liverpool fourpiece release Siberia, their first studio output as a band since the aught-one effort Flowers. Tracklist:

01 Stormy Weather
02 All Because of You Days
03 Parthenon Drive
04 In the Margins
05 Of a Life
06 Make Us Blind
07 Everything Kills You
08 Siberia
09 Sideways Eight
10 Scissors in the Sand
11 What If We Are

Led by mercurial frontman Ian McCulloch and guitarist Will Sergeant, the band is already prepping for an extensive international tour, as previously reported on Pitchfork. The group will perform the lion's share of their typically breathtaking shows in their native England, as well as other parts of Europer, but they will touch down in North America in November, hitting most major cities. And Boise.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, McCulloch said that Siberia echoes (ha ha) some of the band's much-loved early-80s output. "It's a masterpiece!" he confided modestly. "It's not supposed to happen to a band at this point, but it's the most complete album we've ever made." And since a rising number of modern bands have touted Echo as a major influence (Coldplay, come on down!), McCulloch went on to say he had "something to prove" with Siberia. "So many people have cited us as this inspirational band," he said. "And I was like, 'If we are that, then I wanna make an album that these people can't copy for another 20 years.' As much as I wanna pass on this torch, no one's takin' it off me 'til I'm dead." Hear that, Killers? Not 'til he's DEAD! Dates:
