Arcade Fire to Play NYC Fashion Week TV Special

We don't want to jinx the band that released one of the best albums of 2004, but we don't see how things could get much better for the Arcade Fire. The critical and, by indie standards, commercial success of Funeral has built them a loyal following, yet even with two videos in rotation on MTV networks and a well-received Lollapalooza appearance, the group hasn't really enjoyed crossover success.

That may soon change, though, as the Arcade Fire are getting a gig on prime-time network TV. The "Fashion Rocks" concert, which airs September 9 on CBS to coincide with New York's Fashion Week, will feature all kinds of music, from country (Tim McGraw) to pop (Shakira) to r&b; (Alicia Keys) to the legendary (BOWIE!) to the somewhat obscure and totally awesome. You know who that one is. The concert will also signal the official end of Destiny's Child, who are breaking up after the performance (to pursue solo careers, ahem), so the Fire can count on a large audience of teens that just happen to need a new favorite band.

Win Butler & co., were supposed to be recording an album, but the momentum behind Funeral remains so strong that they're touring yet again. Catch them:
