Dim Mak to Issue Rakes EP in the U.S.

Don't you hate it when British singers try to sound like they have American accents? Take the Beatles, or the Rolling Stones. Fucking hacks, right? Now wonder their careers tanked. It's good, then, that London's Rakes sound so very British on all their singles, from 2004's "22 Grand Job" to "Work Work Work (Pub, Club, Sleep)", the video of which is currently ranked on MTV2. You could practically take a nap on their soft Rs and glottal stops.

The Rakes' debut album (Capture / Release) came out only in the UK on August 15, but the band has an American EP for Dim Mak Records on the way just to make sure we know they care. The EP, entitled Retreat, will come out October 11 and includes three songs from the album, two B-sides, and a remix by Paul Epworth (aka Phones). Tracklists:

>> Retreat EP:
01 Retreat
02 Strasbourg
03 Dark Clouds
04 22 Grand Job
05 Something Clicked and I Feel Off the Edge
06 Retreat (Phones Remix)

>> Capture/Release:
01 Strasbourg
02 Retreat
03 22 Grand Job
04 Open Book
05 The Guilt
06 Binary Love
07 We Are All Animals
08 Violent
09 T Bone
10 Terror!
11 Work, Work, Work (Pub, Club, Sleep)

While the band is still working out the dates for a full U.S. tour, they will make their first appearance here at this year's CMJ Music Festival as part of the Dim Mak showcase on September 16.
