Animal Collective to Release "Grass" Single
Hot 97s and Kiss FMs the world over are not excited about this news. But college radio and people like you are, so here's the scoop: The first single from Animal Collective's forthcoming album, Feels, is set to be released in the U.S. on October 18.
The single, "Grass", will be available in both 7" and CD, and will feature two additional tracks: "Must Be Treeman" and "Fickle Cycle". The track has lyrics, but I can't decipher them and neither can you. But you can hit me with your best shot beginning September 26 in the UK, and presumably September 27 in the States, because, you know, Americans are too busy coping with "the Mondays" to run down to the record store until Tuesday.
The band-- sorry, collective-- has also just announced three coastal U.S. tour dates for November. European dates are also being scheduled and when they are all confirmed, you'll be the first to know. But don't expect to hear any of the new songs at these shows, because Animal Collective are constantly moving forward with new material. If you attended their last tour, then you'll already be familiar with the new album when you hear it, provided your memories of the show aren't too damaged. Yes, that was a drug reference. Call your dealer:
11-20 New York, NY - Webster Hall
11-21 San Francisco, CA - Great American Music Hall
11-22 Los Angeles, CA - El Rey Theatre
* "Giraffricorn" is my Animal Collective name. It's exactly what it sounds like. And no, you can't have one.
