Idlewild to Bring Inara George on U.S. Tour

Idlewild are the third-best Scottish band of all time. Seriously! In January, a poll of 12,000 of their countrymen, conducted by the Scottish magazine The List, declared only Belle and Sebastian (#1) and Travis (#2) to be finer exports of their land’s musical bounty than the mopey, jangly, Gertrude Stein-lovin’ gang lead by Stipe-a-like Roddy Woomble. Yes, we know-- the Average White Band (#48) wuz robbed. So be sure to pack plenty of foam hands and “WE’RE NUMBER 3!” banners when Idlewild hit U.S. clubs this September and October, supporting their latest album, Warnings/Promises, which was released August 16 here in the States.

L.A. singer/songwriter Inara George, who coos on several songs on Warnings/Promises, including the lead single, "Love Steals Us From Loneliness", will warm up for the band on all twenty-three dates. George’s debut album, All Rise, has been capturing hearts with its laidback electro-folk dreaminess ever since its January release. Even that WB Frog was feelin' it: George is slated to appear on an October 13 episode of Everwood. But don’t be fooled by her Starbucks/folkie façade-- Inara is the daughter of Little Feat’s Lowell George, so she’s got some Dixie chicken in her soul.
