Tangiers LP on the Way From Frenchkiss

Ah, to be young, hip, attractive, and Canadian. It's a recipe for success, almost as sure as attending Harvard and having Rockefeller as your last name. Thus, the gods should smile upon Toronto punk-noir duo Tangiers when they release their third album, The Family Myth, via Frenchkiss Records on October 18.

While their last effort, 2004's Never Bring You Pleasure was a rollicking Stones-inspired rave-up, the new album finds Josh Reichmann (vocals/guitar) and James Sayce (vocals/bass) mining the more serious territory of "vexed lovers and peculiar strangers." Rounded out by drummer Jon McCann (formerly of Guided By Voices) and keyboardist Shelton Deverell, The Family Myth was produced by Chris Zane (who has helmed the boards for Les Savy Fav, Calla, and Ambulance Ltd.) in New York and Toronto. Song titles include "A Winter's War", "Your Pristine Hands", and "A Hundred Million Feathers Weight". No word on tour dates yet, but we have a feeling this train is bound to make a stop at a town near you.
