The results are in: America loves Deerhoof. And now Deerhoof is ready to love it back. We've already announced that the band is gearing up to release their full-length follow-up to 2003's lukewarm Milk Man, on October 11. Titled The Runners Four, the album marks a major shift in direction from their last album-- it could actually be regarded as the band's first foray into the hyperprog territory already occupied by Architecture in Helsinki, the Fiery Furnaces, and Head of Femur. So the question, then, is how the new material will translate to the stage. Not to worry-- judging from the bits and pieces they played at this summer's Intonation festival, it looks like they've got a solid strategy: They'll just straight rock that shit. Incredible.
