Pitchfork: Guru, Kool Keith "Join the Movement”

Legendary Gang Starr frontman and backronymically-named Guru (Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal, duh) has been hard at work trying to boost his rep outside the confines of his former partnership. Although he and DJ Premier have parted ways professionally, Guru has kept busy with solo projects, first with the Jazzmatazz volumes, and lately with beat-provider Solar both on his July solo release, Guru Version 7.0: The Street Scriptures, and now live. Guru will once again be conducting a series of socially-cognizant MC masterclasses on the "Join the Movement" tour, which will also include the ubiquitous Kool Keith and F.I.L.T.H.E.E. Immigrants. What movement we�re going to be joining, exactly, remains unknown at the moment.

Favorably known as Dr. Octagon, Black Elvis, or Dr. Dooom, less often referred to as Fly Ricky the Wine Taster, Robbie Analog, or Rico From Puerto Rico, and self-avowed "Best MC in the World", Kool Keith could be playing tunes from any number of past releases, or the recently released Lost Masters Vol. 2, or the soon-to-be-released Mr. Nogatco album, or even the cameo-contaminated 7th Veil project expected sometime next year, depending on his creative mood on any given night.

Joining the nine-date movement will be hard-boiled L.A. trio F.I.L.T.H.E.E. Immigrants. Although there are only these dates scheduled so far, more may be planned. Also rumored is the addition to the tour of Detroit's "acid rap" originator Esham, but we'll wait to see what's what and when's when, then. Oh look--
