Lady Sovereign Raps with Jay-Z, Usher; Will Release EP in November

UK grime's Great White Hype/Hope, Lady Sovereign, will finally release the EP, Vertically Challenged, on Chocolate Industries on November 15. The trash-talkix92 19-year-old and self-described \x93white midget\x94 has more buzz than tinnitus right now, thanks to a series of hott British singles, a spot on the genre-defining Run the Road compilation, and heavily traded mp3s burnix92 up the interweb.

But come November, us American folk will be able to rub our grubby little hands all over our very own piece o' Lady Sov wax. Vertically Challenged will feature five original tracks and three remixes, including one of \x93A Little Bit of Shhh!\x94 by none other than Beastie Boy Ad Rock. (Funky white people unite!) It will also include a thirty-minute DVD with videos, interviews and behind-the-scenes footage. Tracklist:

01 Random
02 A Little Bit Of Shhh!
03 Ch-Ching
04 Fiddle With The Volume
05 The Battle
06 Random (Menta Remix)
07 A Little Bit Of Shhh! (Ad Rock Remix)
08 Fiddle With The Volume (Ghislain Poirier Remix)

A full-length Lady Sov jawn, with the tentative title of Straight Up Cheeky is expected for Spring 2006 but which lucky label will release it? Well, Universal's got its tentacles wrapped around her worldwide, but in the U.S.A., the pint-sized princess has been in talks with Def Jam, having been flown out to New York City by the label's president, Shawn Carter. Yes, that's right: Jay-Z is trying to sign Lady Sovereign. Apparently, the pair had a meeting in the Def Jam offices, and Usher, Teairra Mari and Antonio \x93L.A.\x94 Reid were also present. Talk about big pimpix92!

Next Thursday, Sov will rock the mic at NYC's Webster Hall as part of the CMJ Music marathon, sharing the stage with Diverse, Apsci, Aesop Rock and Blackalicious. Look for Hova and Beyonce in the VIP. A November/December American tour is in the works, so keep your eyes and ears peeled.
