Pitchfork: The Makers Make New Album, U.S. Dates

Late last year, Stripped found Spokane garage rawkers the Makers in regroup-and-retrench mode, as they re-recorded some of their �90s, pre-concept-album, pre-glam-freakout material. They could feel the pull back to their simpler, sleazier days, but apparently didn't have the songs to back it up. Now they do. Released August 23, Everybody Rise! is the Makers' tenth album (second for Kill Rock Stars) and a continuation of the raw gutter vibe of Stripped. Somewhere in 1993, teenage Jack White is taking notes.

All garage-rock revival genealogy aside, the Makers will support the new album on the road for the majority of September. Everybody Rise marks the return of guitarist Tim Maker to the lineup, as well as the addition of drummer Aaron Maker. The tour will include a thorough sweep of the East Coast, a stop at Kill Rock Stars' CMJ showcase on September 16, and more than a few shows in the Midwest, but not much along the Pacific coast. Could it be that these consummate rock vets have finally worn out their welcome with their native West Coasters? You decide:
