Pitchfork: The Double Release New Album, Tour

Recent Matador signings the Double will be playing a record release party in their hometown of NYC at the Frying Pan on September 16 to celebrate the issuance of new album Loose in the Air. Matador signed the band hot on the heels of 2004's impressive Palm Fronds, released by Catsup Plate Records (the very same unnerving New York label that has produced impeccably-cared-for limited editions like the Danse Manatee CD by Animal Collective members Avey Tare, Panda Bear, and the Geologist, as well as stylish Black Dice and Destroyer releases).

Okay, you're asking, but why have I heard of these guys already? How's this for cunning booking or just plain dumb luck: past tour-mates include the Go-Betweens, the Mountain Goats, and Blonde Redhead; the band recently finished playing with Sons and Daughters and Interpol, and will soon warm up for Deerhoof, Fiery Furnaces, M83, John Vanderslice, and Black Dice.
