Tortoise, Sweep the Leg Johnny Crown Flower 15 Lineup

Unless you roll in the biz, booking agencies probably escape your rock kid radar. Maybe they're not as hip as, say, bands, labels, or "collectives," but it's thanks to these industrious behind-the-scene-sters that your favorite band is coming to town. Flowerbooking, one such agency, has been bringing favorite bands to towns for 15 years now, and that can only mean party.

And when your friends are hot bands, party gets taken to a whole 'nother level. As previously reported, Flowerbooking will celebrate their Crystal Anniversary with the aptly named "Flower 15", a series of eight star-studded benefit shows this November at Chicago's venerable Metro. The acts have been finalized at last, with several TBAs throwing off their guises to become Tortoise, Minus The Bear, and a Sweep The Leg Johnny quasi-reunion. Other notables, like Ted Leo, Isis, Local H, Make Believe and the reunited Promised Ring and Smoking Popes, were announced earlier. Those banking on Interpol best relinquish their chips.

The key word here is "benefit," as Flower intends to donate all proceeds from the events to P.L.A.Y. (Possibilities in Life: Art for Youth), an organization formed to "provide a constructive and creative outlet for young victims of abuse." If nothing else, at least your conscience will feel good in the morning.

Listen (shh!) to what the flower people say:

11-08 Local H, Detachment Kit, Hopesfall, Big Business
11-09 Minus The Bear, Pelican, Criteria, Cougars
11-10 Ted Leo/Pharmacists, Sweep the Leg Johnny, These Arms Are Snakes, The Essex Green, Just A Fire
11-11 Jimmy Eat World, American Analog Set, Maritime (early show)
11-11 Smoking Popes, Bella Lea (late show)
11-12 The Promise Ring, Make Believe, Tristeza (early show)
11-12 Tortoise, Isis (late show)
11-13 The Chariot, Evergreen Terrace, Since By Man

For the homebound party-monger whose generosity just can't wait, Flowerbooking is holding charity auctions on eBay beginning today. The dozens of items to be bid upon range from the surreal to the quirky to the mundane, and 100% of auction proceeds go to P.L.A.Y.
