Fruit Bats Tour With Son Volt

Eric Johnson and his Fruit Bats have a new album, a new drummer, and all the free cheese they could ever want. No, seriously... the new drummer, Ron Lewis, is a cheesemonger by day, as our own Sam Ubl pointed out in his review of the band's new album, Spelled in Bones.

Sadly, it looks like Ron will have to give up the Gruyere for at least a month or so. His new bandmates do have a new disc to promote, after all. Last week, the group began their fall tour in L.A., and this week they'll hook up with everybody's second-favorite Uncle Tupelo spin-off, Son Volt.

In Lewis' absence, we here at Pitchfork will do our best to fulfill any and all of your cheese-related music needs. This humble newswriter recommends a nice, round, nutty cheese to go with your new Fruit Bats CD. A mild Gouda, perhaps.
