The Subways Invade "The O.C.", America

Another week, another band of British adolescents storming the colonies to save rock and roll. This time it's the Subways, a London trio who won't be allowed to legally drink when they reach the States. Evidently all of Britain has been apoplectic over these youths since July, when their debut, Young for Eternity, hit the High Street shops.

"Hormonal exuberance!" raves Q. "Impressive!" gushes The Guardian. "The next big thing!" enthuses The Sun. "Who the hell are the Subways?" asks America.

Well, we'll be sick of them soon enough, as the band has landed a cut on the Music from the O.C.: Mix 5 comp, namely "Rock & Roll Queen," which will also be the first single from the U.S. release of Young for Eternity when it comes out here in February. They will also perform on "The O.C." on November 18, apparently the only musical act that will appear on the show this season. Subways, meet Death Cab; Death Cab, meet Subways.

Forsaking some potentially lucrative import sales (or, more likely, a non-lucrative file-sharing frenzy), Sire will issue the same version of the debut LP that the Brits got. Until then, visit the official Subways site and the album will be loudly streamed at you whether you like or not. Like a counselor at a heroin clinic, you're looking for the tracks:
