Hood, Nudge, Schneider TM Remix Pulseprogramming

Judge neither books nor compact discs by their covers, dear friend. However, when a certain piece of unassuming CD packaging can be miraculously folded into a strange, grey, three-dimensional edifice, you're right to judge that totally awesome. So it is with Pulseprogramming's 2003 blip-gaze masterstroke, Tulsa for One Second; graciously, the music within proves superlative as well.

Navigating some of the same ambient-electro waters as Dntel, Signer, Ulrich Schnauss and Junior Boys, Pulseprogramming have entranced more than a few headphone-donning techno-philes in their time. Enough, it seems, to warrant a whole record of remixes. And just when you thought the remix had been permanently co-opted by indie rock!

Today sees the release of Tulsa For One Second Remix Project via the Aesthetics label, featuring a regular pantheon of electronic who's-who's hitting the decks to mish-mash hot Pulse trackz. Notables include Schneider TM, Barbara Morgenstern, Hood, Sylvain Chauveau and B. Fleischmann, who is not to be confused with T. Raumschmiere, F. Scott Fitzgerald, P. Diddy or Fleischmann's margerine.

One half of the Pulseprogramming duo, Marc Hellner, recently released a solo record entitled Marriages on Peacefrog Records. It featured collaborations with John Herndon (Tortoise) and Telefon Tel Aviv, among others. I'm sure it makes for a killer soundtrack to origami folding sessions.
