Mars Volta to Release Live Disc

Despite a recent scourge of bad breaks, bad luck and (ahem) bad reviews, neo-prog all-stars the Mars Volta continue to press on. On November 8, the band will release the live album Scabdates, featuring songs recorded live over the course of 2003-2005 (between their albums De-Loused In The Comatorium and Frances The Mute).

The disc was put together by multi-instrumentalist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and comes our way via GSL/Universal Records. It's 74 minutes long, which is actually quite short considering the length of the average Mars Volta show. Full tracklisting is as follows:

01 Abrasions Mount the Timpani
02 Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt
03 a) Gust of Mutts
04 b) And Ghosted Pouts
05 Caviglia
06 Concertina
07 Haruspex
08 Cicatriz
09 a) Pt I
10 b) Pt II
11 c) Pt III
12 d) Pt IV

As previously reported, the Mars Volta were forced to cancel a string of European dates this summer when Rodriguez-Lopez became sticken with mysterious abdominal pains. But that didn't stop the band from curating the All Tomorrow's Parties festival's "Nightmare Before Christmas", taking place at England's Camber Sands Holiday Camp on December 2-4. It features performances by such superstars as Les Savy Fav, Diamanda Galas, Antony and the Johnsons, Acid Mothers Temple, the Kills, Lydia Lunch, Saul Williams, Hella, Madlib, Blonde Redhead, Dungen, and the Mars Volta themselves. Party time, excellent.
