Belle & Sebastian Confirm Record Title, Release Date

We BS you not: The new Belle & Sebastian record is in the proverbial can, christened with a snazzy new title and primed for a UK release on February 6, according to various British news sources. The Life Pursuit will be the sixth album proper from your favourite twee stalwarts, who have braved the waters of the indie mainstream and etched a cherished scar in the hearts of many. No official U.S. release date has been set, but citing the usual day-after tradition, we're banking on Tuesday the seventh.

With The Life Pursuit, it seems Stuart Murdoch and company have abandoned their occupational fixation, as evidenced by the album's now-scrapped working title, The Goalkeeper's Revenge. Apparently that's not all the septet did away with: NME.com reports that Belle & Sebastian quite literally jettisoned their regular instruments to record Pursuit. Um, Murdoch-tronica? Let's pray not.

As reported earlier, the 18-track whopper was produced by Tony Hoffer (whose past credits include Beck, Air, Grandaddy, Stars, Supergrass and Phoenix) and will likely feature such songs as "Sukie In The Graveyard", "Funny Little Frog", "Song For Sunshine", "Act Of The Apostle Part I", "Another Sunny Day", and "A White Collared Boy". Twee-lightful.
