Andrew Bird Launches North American Tour Tonight

There are a select few musical artists who make our lives here at Pitchfork a lot easier. Cex, Spoon, and the Wolf bands allow for a plethora of bad jokes, while, say, Devendra Banhart has a tendency to bring out the writers block in us all. Fortunately, the man we're concentrating on today, whistlemaniac Andrew Bird, is flying high on the former list. Flying high! See what we mean?

After spending the majority of October in Europe, Bird kicks off the second wing of his tour tonight in Michigan. Supporting the main man is Anticon's Martin Dosh who, in addition to performing his own short set, will cover multi-instrumentals for both Bird and co-openers Head of Femur (touring as a trio, rather than their usual Broken Social Scene-sized gang).

Come mid-December, Bird will wrap up the tour in Los Angeles with bluegrass buds Nickel Creek. Migrating south for the winter, perhaps?
