Low Announce North American Tour

According to the new post-modern mythology, in which we deify indie rock bands, Low are the gods of the winter season. Their music is readymade for adjectives like "soft," "delicate," and "graceful" as well as "brooding," "wintry," and "dark." They've recorded a Christmas album and "Last Snowstorm of the Year" and hail from chilly Minnesota. And what rhymes with the word "snow"? Exactly. Paging Miss Cleo: this shit is cosmic.

Low will assert their dominance over the most wonderful time of the year with a 19-date tour spread over four cold months. The trio will trudge onward sans recently-departed bassist Zak Sally, and with replacement low end master Matt Livingston, to whom y'all should give a warm welcome, and quite possibly scads of Alan Sparhawk's classy mufflers.

The trio's itinerary consists of three parts: a special holiday show to ring out 2006 in Low's home state of Minnesota, whose annual Music Award ceremony the combo recently swept (putting them in the company of Prince, Paul Westerberg, and, um, Soul Asylum); a late-January / early-February trek, followed by a three-week break to celebrate those presidential holidays; and a final string of shows into March. Then it's all straight on ‘til morning and whatnot.
