Field Music to Release New Single, Plan 2006 Takeover

Apparently, yes. Not only has the city given us lucky folks the likes of the Futureheads and Maximo Park to lump into an "It Came From Sunderland" piece (possibly with historical nods to old warhorses Bryan Ferry and the Eurythmics' Dave Stewart), but also the latest Wearside act making waves, Field Music.

On November 21, Memphis Industries will release the "If Only the Moon Were Up" single, with the title track backed by three new songs spread over the CD and 7" formats: "Can You See Anything", "Test Your Reaction", and "I'm Tired".

But that's not all the Field Music news we've got for you, kids. The trio of Andrew Moore and David and Peter Brewis intend on being overly generous in the new music department in 2006. According to Memphis Industries, there is a new single planned for February entitled "You're Not Supposed To", as well as a collection of music by the Brewis brothers' past bands, Electronic Eye Machine and the New Tellers, due in March. The Field Music debut album will come out in France and Germany in January, and there are plans for an U.S. license deal for the debut album (with bonus tracks) in the works for February or March. A SXSW show and American tour is in the works, and the band plans lots more touring before releasing their second album in August 2006.

Field Music will play some UK shows starting tonight, the majority of them with strumming chums Maximo Park. However, tonight's show at London's Water Rats is a headliner, something Field Music should get used to.
