Talib Kweli to Release New Album, Continue Tour

Firmly sidestepping the bitches + bling = bucks career trajectory equation, esteemed Brooklyn MC Talib Kweli has always followed his own path to respectability and reverence in the rap community. Through his collaborations with Mos Def in Black Star and Hi-Tek in Reflection Eternal, as well as his acclaimed solo work, Kweli has built a rep without having to resort to thug shoutdowns with other MCs or ripping and re-selling whatever current pop song is at hand. Hell, it's not every day Jay-Z takes the time to drop lyrical kudos to someone in song, like he did to Kweli in "Moment of Clarity".

Kweli will release his latest album, Right About Now: The Official Sucka Free CD, on Tuesday, November 22 through Koch Records and his own Blacksmith Music label (co-run with manager Corey Smyth). The album sports guest spots by Mos Def and Blacksmith signee Jean Grae (the "rap Joan Jett"), as well as MF Doom, mixtape murderer Papoose, prolific Fresno artist Planet Asia, and Alkaholiks/Xzibit cohort Phil Da Agony. Here are the tracks:

01 Right About Now
02 Drugs, Basketball & Rap (featuring Planet Asia & Phil the Agony)
03 Who Got It
04 Fly That Knot (featuring MF Doom)
05 Ms. Hill
06 Flash Gordon
07 Supreme Supreme (featuring Mos Def)
08 The Beast (featuring Papoose)
09 Roll Off Me
10 Rock On
11 Where Ya Gonna Run (Jean Grae featuring Talib Kweli)
12 Two & Two

You can hear tracks from the album here.

Here are the remaining dates of the Playstation-sponsored "Breed Love Odyssey Tour" (ugh), which features Kweli, Grae, Somalian/Canadian MC K'naan, and former Organized Konfusion member Pharoahe Monch. Mos Def recently dropped off the trek. Maybe he was disgusted with the name?
