Eugene Mirman Signs to Sub Pop, Tours

If Mirman continues to mimic Cross' career path, he will soon be seen hanging around the New Pornographers a lot (check), opening for various indie rock shows (check), and appearing more and more irate in public, with diminishing returns for his scorn (definitely not yet).

In more burnin' Mirman news, the comedian is also featured on Comedy Central's Invite Them Up compilation, out now. The 3xCD/1xDVD set was recorded over three nights of the long-running stand-up showcase hosted by Bobby Tisdale and Mirman. As previously reported, the set features David Cross, Michael Showalter, Demetri Martin, Aziz Ansari, and many other funny people. Craig Wedren, Marcellus Hall, and Langhorne Slim provide musical relief.

Mirman will hit the road later this week to play (as in tell jokes and show videos) some shows as part of the Unlimited Sunshine Tour, which also includes Cake, Tegan and Sara, and Gogol Bordello. He'll surely be chronicling the tour's misadventures ("Tegan pretended to be Sara again! Some dude from Cake put my hand in warm water while I was sleeping, UGH!") on his VillageVoice.com blog.
