Pitchfork: Wolf Eyes, Smegma to Play No Fun Fest

Why spend Saint Paddy's Day with leprechauns when you could kick it with fat worms and lemurs? (No, those aren't nicknames for A&R; men, and we aren't making fun of SXSW here.) Laptop scree guru Carlos Giffoni reasoned as much when curating and scheduling the 2006 edition of the No Fun Fest, the eyeblack-intense long weekend of noize now in its third year.

The gristle hits the fan March 17-19 on both floors of the Hook nightclub in Brooklyn, New York, where you'll find deities and newbies, bands from around the world, record label showcases, DJ sets, and a lot of people acting like they're having a really great time. Throbbing highlights include Thurston "God's Ass" Moore, Jim O'Rourke, No Neck Blues Band, Smegma, Borbetomagus, and those bloodiest of urine-burned darlings, Wolf Eyes. Stephen O'Malley of Sunn0)))/Khanate will DJ on Friday night; we can only hope he'll drop that hot new Ying Yang Twins joint.

Single-day tickets ($15) for No Fun Fest will be available February 15, but you can buy a three-dayer today for only $40. That's only, like, two vials of plasma!
