Franz Ferdinand are currently in the midst of the massive Big Day Out tour Down Under. They've got a bunch of festival dates scheduled throughout the coming months (Bangkok 100, Roskilde, Coachella, Benicàssim), as well as a brief stint opening for U2 in South America. Chilean fans are currently circulating an online petition to get the band to play their own headlining show in Santiago, and we don't blame them. You can sign it here. Apparently, such a tactic worked in Buenos Aires.

In other Death Cab news, the band has slowly started rolling out the web-only "Directions" series of videos for each song on their latest album. "Soul Meets Body" is currently viewable on the band's website, but act fast, because come February 6, it will be replaced by "Summer Skin".

Also, Death Cab has partnered with Guitar Center for one of those silly contests where you can win a trip to a Death Cab show in L.A., an autographed guitar, all of the band's albums, and "exclusive Death Cab for Cutie merchandise". OK, I guess the contest itself isn't inherently silly, but the fact that Guitar Center refers to Death Cab as the "nation's hottest band" is. Gibbard and Walla probably peed themselves laughing when they read that.
