Pitchfork: Gorky's Frontman Euros Childs Goes Solo

In a move that will cause no interruptions in the hallowed halls of MTV headquarters but howls of glee from devoted fans around the world, Gorky's Zygotic Mynci singer/songwriter Euros Childs has set off on his own and will release a solo album, Chops, on Wichita Recordings on February 13 in the UK. Hey, that's this Monday!

Whether it's the bonkers Welsh gnomish psychedelia of the band's early Ankst Records releases to the sun-kissed beauty of later Gorky's Mantra and Sanctuary albums, Childs has revealed himself to be one of the most consistently ingenious and magically mad songwriters over the past decade...at least in Wales.

As for his solo LP, Childs speaks of wanting to make an album that gets as close as he can to "party music". If the press release gets it even close with its "Vangelis-meets-Black Lace" comparison, then we're in for a ride.
