Isolée to Release 12" Compilation

Although he's about as prolific as Terrence Malick, Teutonic producer Rajko Müller (aka Isolée) has proven himself to be one of the most consistently brilliant electronic dance music artists of the decade. Müller revels in meshing the unconventional and the traditional, but not in a showy, mash-up kind of way. He plugs straight house, ambient dub, dance-ready disco, and (in the case of "Schrapnell", Pitchfork's 34th favorite single of last year) bangin' riffs into gorgeous electronic sudokus.

On February 20, Playhouse will release Western Store, a collection of 12" tracks spanning Isolée's career from before his 2000 debut album Rest to last year's We Are Monster monster. The disc was put together by Jörn Elling Wuttke of Alter Ego and Sensorama, and is highlighted by Freeform Five's remix of Isolée's breakthrough single "Beau Mot Plage".
