Pitchfork: Jenny Lewis Joins Tour Kickoff Fun

Good lord, what is it about today that has compelled so many bands to start their tours? I guess there's the whole SXSW-to-Coachella circuit to account for, but most of these folks aren't even playing those fests. Maybe it's just to fuck with us news editors?

Anyway, you know the drill: tonight in Pomona, California, Jenny Lewis and her backing group, the Watson Twins, kick off their North American tour. Just like the Books, the Strokes, Stereolab, Mogwai, Dresden Dolls, Skeletons and the Girl-Faced Boys, and god knows who else. The Rilo Kiley chanteuse is pimping her solo debut, Rabbit Fur Coat, released in January on Conor Oberst's Team Love label. Strangely, the tour will hit Woman's Clubs in both San Diego and Minneapolis. Who knew those things still existed?

On the American trek, Lewis & co. will be joined by various stars of the indie-yuppie galaxy, including Willy Mason, Tilly and the Wall, and Lewis' boyfriend, Johnathan Rice. Ooh la la. In April, they'll take the show to Europe.

Our favorite Foxfire cast member will also appear on "David Letterman" on March 21.
