Dungen, Pelican, Black Mountain to Appear on Comp

So a bunch of musical theater majors live below me, and not a day goes by that I do not think to myself, "If only an album existed with a diverse collection of music powerful and HEAVY enough to rock the floors to the ground and pummel the endless supply of Rent covers into oblivion."

Prayers be answered, such a compilation is here! Haaaallelujah. On April 25, NYC-based label Kemado Records will simultaneously blow up and expand your minds with Invaders, a compilation of unreleased and rare recordings from doom/psych/speed/stoner/prog/punk/art metal bands like Dungen, Comets on Fire, Black Mountain, Wolfmother, Pelican, the Sword, Witch (that band J Mascis plays drums in), the Fucking Champs, and High on Fire, to name a few.

In addition to being loaded with music that will annihilate jazz hand-happy college kids, the compilation also feature liner notes by Ian Christe, author of the classic that graces everyone's bookshelves, Sound of the Beast: The Complete Headbanging History of Heavy Metal. Kemado and Decibel magazine will celebrate Invaders with a late-night SXSW party at Positively 4th Street in Austin on March 18. It will feature Saviours, Witch, The Sword, and a "special guest." We hope it's Pat Boone.

Nigel hipsters not invited:

01 Saviors - "Circle of Servant's Bodies"
02 Danava - "By the Mark"
03 Big Business - "As the Day Was Dawning"
04 Black Mountain - "Behind the Fall"
05 The Sword - "Under the Boughs"
06 Dungen - "Christopher"
07 Witch - "Rip Van Winkle"
08 The Fucking Champs - "The Loge"
09 Torche - "Mentor"
10 Pelican - "Ran Amber"
11 High on Fire - "Devilution" (radio edit)
12 Witchcraft - "Queen of Bees" (live)
13 Comets on Fire - "Wolf Eyes" (Middle Version)
14 Diamond Nights - "12 Walls"
15 Wolfmother - "Love Train"
16 Night After Night - "Backseat Astronaut"
17 Warhammer 48k - "Get Bodacious"
18 Parchman Farm - "Curtis Franklin"

And with that, here's a story for you:

On the Parchman Farm atop Black Mountain, the Witch does her Witchcraft thing, lighting her pet Pelican and some Comets on Fire. But there's this Wolfmother screamin' like a Warhammer 48k, Night after Night, cause she's got Big Business to throw down, 'cause sometimes it just be like...damn, yo. So they duke it out with The Sword and a Torche, because they both can't be The Fucking Champs, right? But suddenly, Saviours leap out of the Dungen, and cry "Surprise!" Witch says "Danava do that again" and sends their asses High on Fire into the Diamond Nights.

The end. Peace out.
