Clap Your Hands Say Tour Kickoff

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah were 2005's feel-good grassroots success story, selling a kajillion self-released records on the strength of digital buzz alone (our generous 9.0 certainly didn't hinder things any). And lookee here, they're still turning heads and selling out sizable venues over two months into 2006. Their storied tidal wave of young blood crashes on American shores tonight, then sweeps across the nation to the delight of the messenger-bag masses.

Couldn't score a ticket in time? Dry those tears, then curl up with a teddy bear and your favorite internet browser, type-clicked toward www.npr.org. Tomorrow night at 9:30 PM EST, NPR's "All Songs Considered" series will webcast CYHSY's entire Washington, DC concert live. While you're around, treat your ears to a recording of last night's Belle & Sebastian / New Pornographers gig, archived here.

CYHSY have also assembled quite the royal flush of lamely-named festival appearances, scoring spots at Langerado, Coachella, Sasquatch, and Bonaroo-- a quadruple whammy if there ever was one. No word yet whether they'll be playing Prague's Sperm Festival.

Finally, take care not to miss New Zealand indie-pop darlings the Brunettes, opening all dates on the second leg of this here jaunt.
