Pitchfork: Dungen Schedule North American Shows

In Swedish, Dungen means "grove." We think it should mean "awesome." Not afraid to cry onstage, be consoled by a bearded comforter, or DJ mindbending psychedelic rock while smoking and laughing, Gustav Ejstes and company have been in high demand since the release of 2004's excellent Ta Det Lugnt.

The Scandinavian psych-folk-metal onslaught continues this Spring, when Dungen return to North America for SXSW, Coachella, and Bonnaroo, with a West Coast tour in between. They'll also play a smattering of British and European shows, including not one but two All Tomorrow's Parties sets. Both Sleater-Kinney and the Shins selected them for their respectively curated days, so rather than fight, they decided to share. Aww.

A new Dungen album is in the works but details remain sketchy. In the meantime, Ta Det Lugnt will be released "soon" in Australia and New Zealand by Dew Process, and on March 15 in Japan by Vroom Sound.

As previously reported, Dungen contribute the song "Christopher" to Kemado Records' forthcoming hipster metal compilation Invaders, due out April 25.
