Pitchfork: Owen Woos Emo Kids Across America

Since their humble beginnings freak-shrieking refrigerator magnet poetry at us as caP'n Jazz, the Chicagoland Kinsellas have spiraled off to form myriad side- and post-projects, reincarnations, and one-offs of varying degrees of incestuousness. Among them: Joan of Arc, American Football, Owls, Tim Kinsella, Make Believe, and, last but not least, Owen, the acoustic and emotive soapbox for the sensitive side of caP'n drummer Mike Kinsella.

Kinsella comes a-courtin' this spring under the Owen guise, having arranged a 28-date tour of les States that kicked off last night. Joining him are such folks as Machine Elves, Vedera, William Elliott Whitmore, and The Snake, The Cross, The Crown, which could be three blandly-named bands but is in fact only one.

Since everybody's doing it, Owen will also take a hit out of the SXSW snuffbox, as part of the Polyvinyl Records showcase. Just a hunch, but we suspect Kinsella orchestrated this entire Polyvinyl spree just so he could play Owensboro, Kentucky on April 4.
