Silver Jews Launch Inaugural Tour

It's the moment we've been waiting 15 years for: the launch of the first Silver Jews tour! Tonight in Georgia, David Berman, his wife Cassie, former Pavement-er Bob Nastanovich, and the rest of their crew begin a month-long trek hitting the East Coast and Midwest, before heading to the UK for a handful of dates.

Fans in Nashville got a surprise sneak preview earlier this week, when the Jews played a semi-secret warmup gig at The End on Monday night. Reader Annie Klaver told Pitchfork, "A borderline raucous crowd calmed the momentous night with everyone in full support of the admittedly shaky start...except that guy who loudly reminded those surrounding him that The Joos sounded nothing like Led Zeppelin."

So uh, yeah-- if you're expecting bombastic drum fills, heaven-scorching guitar solos, and crazed feminine shrieking, you might be disappointed.

In an unexpected turn of events, the Bermans will appear on MTV2's "Subterranean" this weekend. Not only will they premiere the video for "Sleeping Is the Only Love" (from last year's Tanglewood Numbers), but they will also make a very special announcement.
