Pitchfork: Headlights on the Road

When longstanding star-gazers Absinthe Blind called it quits back in 2004, a few folks wept, a few folks shrugged, and the rest of us remarked, "Absinthe who?" Graciously, three ex-AB cats heard the cries of those weepers and regrouped as Headlights. The trio quickly signed to Polyvinyl Records and dropped The Enemies EP, before launching an elaborate U.S.-spanning tour this past weekend.

Headlights ground Absinthe Blind's atmospheric leanings with the occasional invocation of pedal steel and a bit more strum than glimmer, but the reigning aesthetic of pretty, sprawling pop songs garnished by coed vocals remains very much intact. Mayhap the trio will hold audiences enrapt while on tour, just like a bunch of deer in...well, you get the idea.
