Pitchfork: Flaming Lips, Feist to Play Noise Pop

Noise Pop, "San Francisco's Most Awesomest Annual Music Festival," returns March 27 through April 2 to rock various venues around the city. Things were originally supposed to get started on March 28, but then the Flaming Lips were added to the bill on the night before, and who's going to say no to the Lips? Especially when they conducted one of their mystical Boombox Experiments at Noise Pop 1998.

In addition to Wayne Coyne and his merry men, Noise Pop 2006 will feature performances by Feist, John Vanderslice, Isis, the Dirtbombs, Britt Daniel of Spoon, Laura Viers, Rogue Wave, Kieran Hebden (Four Tet) and Steve Reid, Her Space Holiday, Kid 606, the National, Mark Eitzel, Why?, Dirty Projectors, Minus the Bear, Thursday, Sam Prekop and Archer Prewitt, David Bazan (Pedro the Lion), Two Gallants, Jason Collett, We Are Scientists, Film School, the Cloud Room, Xiu Xiu, Kid Koala, Wolfmother, Smoosh, Vetiver, Neil Halstead (Mojave 3), Geoff Farina, and many more.

Previous Noise Poppers include the White Stripes, Modest Mouse, the Shins, Bright Eyes, Death Cab for Cutie, and Jeff Tweedy. You may be familiar with some of those people.

Noise Pop 2006 will also include a film festival, comedy, a record fair, and a series of panels hosted by Indie Night School, including sessions about booking, press, and branding.

Although Noise Pop's all-encompassing badges are sold out, tickets are still available for individual shows. Except for the Flaming Lips-- those tickets went like hotcakes.
