Quannum's Curumin Embarks on Short U.S. Tour

Did you really think the Bay Area's Quannum Projects only dished out hip-hop? Well, you were right...for the most part. The thing is, the DJ Shadow/Blackalicious/Lateef-founded label/collective has been diversifying their roster as of late with the addition of groups like Apsci, General Elektriks, and, most recently, Brazil's Curumin.

Curumin, known to his mommy as Luciano Nakata Albuquerque, released his samba, funk, and jazz-infused debut album, Achados e Perdidos, last September. On it, he plays synths, guitars, ukulele, programs drums, and cooks a mean linguica.

He'll support the album with his first U.S. tour, which will hit the Winter Music and M3 conferences in Miami and the Noise Pop festival in San Francisco. The tour was supposed to kick off tonight and tomorrow in New York City, but visa problems have delayed the first show until this weekend in Miami.
