Hefty Records Celebrates 10th Anniversary

It's sweet when record labels have anniversaries. You don't have to buy them anything, or take them out to dinner, or even send them a card. Instead, they give you gifts.

Chicago experimental electronic label Hefty Records is releasing a trifecta of anniversary CDs, each a mix of new stuff and old stuff...a Hefty pu pu platter, if you will.

The two-disc Hefty 10 Digest drops this coming Tuesday, April 4 and features one disc chock-full of highlights from artists like Slicker, Telefon Tel Aviv, and Phil Ranelin, while the second disc is a mixtape curated by Scott Herren, operating under his Prefuse 73 handle. Prefuse links a blend of rarities, previously released tracks, and remixes on the disc.

The second wave of anniversary what-what drops on April 25 in the form of two separate volumes of History Is Bunk: Collaborations, Reinterpretations, and New Compositions. Vol. 1 features Ryuichi Sakamoto remixing Telefon Tel Aviv and new tracks from Slicker, while Vol. 2 boasts unreleased material from Eliot Lipp and Spanova. Here comes the bonanza of tracklists...
